Wheels & Doors
“Are there more wheels or doors in the world?”
Our son Joshua said they discussed this question in his Concepts in Probability and Statistics class for almost an hour this week. The unusual attention on this topic became world-wide trivia when New Zealander Ryan Nixon posed the question on Twitter last week. It garnered more than 220,000 responses. In Ryan’s poll, 53.6 percent of respondents sided for wheels, with 46.4 percent going for doors.
I am not about to spend my precious time delving into this unanswerable question today, but it can prompt us to study the two words in our Bibles.
My research yielded that the word “wheel/wheels” is found thirty-seven (37) times in Scripture. Whereas “door/doors” yielded an even a higher count of two hundred and forty-one (241) times.
The prophet Ezekiel shared with us what he witnessed when God allowed him to peer into the heavenly dimension and see the angels of God manipulating the wheels. It is a very intriguing passage. “The appearance of the wheels and their craftsmanship was like the gleam of beryl, and all four had the same form. Their appearance and craftsmanship was like a wheel within a wheel. Ezekiel 1:16. Studying Ezekiel 1 and 10 one will come away with a sense of holy awareness.
In the New Testament, Jesus stated in John 10, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” John 10:9
We also should note Revelation 3 where Jesus “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20 May we be ever grateful that our Awesome Creator welcomes us to a most personal relationship and connection.
I believe the wheels and doors found in our Bibles significantly more profound. Pastor Larry
