Think Out loud?
This week while listening to Christian radio, the point was made by the commentator that it is healthy to your soul to listen to Scripture being read out loud. Reading it quietly to yourself is great, but many times hearing it out loud can benefit you just that much more. “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17
Do you ever talk to yourself? It’s not something we like to admit to, but most of us think out loud every now and then. After all, if you can’t agree with yourself, who can you agree with? But it’s not the agreeing part of our private conversation that’s concerning, it’s when you disagree with yourself that you don’t want anyone to hear.
Thinking out loud doesn’t mean you’re crazy and it can even help clarify your thoughts, shake off stress and put you in a good mood. Remember, there are three of you spirit soul and body, so an informal in-house conversation sometimes needs to be voiced.
In Psalm 42:5 King David said to himself, why am I so sad and troubled? And Job determined out loud, so that his ears would hear him say, even though God kills me, I’m still going to trust him. So today, it’s all right to think out loud, because when your ears hear what your mouth just said, it confirms what all three of you can agree on. Let’s remember to think on/about the things above and then you will always say the right thing in this.
