The Center
“God is at the center of the universe, and when you put yourself there, it only ends in relational brokenness and personal disappointment.” – Paul D. Tripp
Have you ever had a moment where you thought, “that person thinks they are the center of the universe”? Some words or actions of the person near you brought you to thinking that “this person” has a very inflated idea of themselves.
Shocking to think, but possibly you or I have been “that one” who others thought in this way! Who, I say again, WHO is at the center of our universe? Are our actions demonstrating that? I hope so, but at times we need corrective instruction to put us “back in our place” and God at the Center of the Universe.
I heard a song recently that I believe is credited to Johnny Cash whose words struck me:
“I went drifting through the capitals of tin
Where men can’t walk or freely talk
And sons turn their fathers in.
I stopped outside a church house
Where the citizens like to sit.
They say they want the kingdom
But they don’t want God in it.
I went out searching, looking for one good man
A spirit who would not bend or break
Who would sit at his father’s right hand.
I went out walking with a bible and a gun
The word of God lay heavy on my heart
I was sure I was the one.” – Johnny Cash
Jesus is obviously The One in the lyrics, not Cash, you or me. May we steady ourselves with the highest of thought in keeping “God the Son at the Center!”
“In the beginning God…” Genesis 1:1
“For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever.” Amen. Romans 11:36
“Our Lord and God, You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power, because You have created all things, and because of Your will they exist and were created.” Revelation 4:11
