Time to Refocus on Christ – Dr. David Gibbs

2020 was undoubtedly a year for the record books – the year that somehow felt like an eternity while at h same time passing by in a flash.  We saw things that we never expected to see in America, and I’m not just referring to a global pandemic.  We saw the highest court in the land choose to protect sinful lifestyles in a decision that will undoubtedly affect religious freedom for decades to come.  We’ve seen the majority of American choose to vote in a president who openly supports the murder of unborn babies up to birth.

The tumultuous events of 2020 can certainly make it easy to worry and take our eyes off our God, so let’s all use this Christmas season as time to breathe, collect ourselves, and refocus on what matters – the Gospel.  The Gospel is story begins with he birth of a little baby boy, wrapped in swaddling clothes while lying in a manger.  It’s a story of hope, love, grace redemption, and eventually salvation for the unworthy.  It’s THE Story.  When you focus on THE Story, everything else pales in comparison.  Al the troubles, the worries, the concerns of life in America in 2020 go quiet.

He is the reason for the season.  He is our glorious King, our omnipotent Christ, our Savior who came down to this earth for one sole reason – to die on the cross for each and every one of our sins.  Why? Because He loves us so much that He couldn’t bear the thought of Heaven without you and me.  What a wonderful beautiful, true story.

So – as we finish out the month of December, put away your fear and worries and know that we are going to Heaven because Jesus Christ came down to earth as a baby.  Join hands with your family, sing carols for all to hear, and let us all worship our Messiah.  – David Gibbs, JR

Hebrews 12:2  “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
