I KNOW THAT THERE IS A DEVIL THOUGH I CANNOT SEE HIM
I have two stories to share. One mine, and another from a friend. First one was recent. Thursday at the beginning of our trip while on a boat, we were blessed to witness three dolphins at play for a short period. Next, heading north to our destination, I could see three fins active in some shallow water. I could easily tell, the marine animals were not dolphin. We turned around to get a good look and we were all in agreement that we were watching three sharks scanning the waters for a fresh meal. Somebody asked me, “would I dive in this water?” Like any rational person would respond, “no thanks! I am comfortable and fully satisfied to watch from the boat.”
Second story… While riding his bike in early August, my friend passed by one of the several reservoirs in the neighborhood and was suddenly stopped by the site of a pretty good size fish thrashing with 2/3rds of his body out of the water. It was obvious that some predator, probably a gator, had gotten a hold on the ill-fated fish and would not let go. The fish struggled vigorously for about 30 seconds, tired and was pulled under the water never to be seen again. He never saw the predator, but he knew that there was one.
The spiritual lesson, here is to be on guard and don’t let yourself be drawn into a situation where the devil could get a foothold on you. “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1Peter 5:8
