The title of the NPR news article reads, “Scientists successfully grow plants in soil from the moon”. This piqued my interest to see how this experiment went.
In the study, researchers planted the seeds of Arabidopsis thaliana — a plant related to mustard greens, in lunar soil, which was sampled directly from the moon from missions Apollo 11, 12 and 17.
“We planted them, walked away for a couple of days and then when we first went back in to take a look, it was amazing to see that every plant group, all the seedlings germinated,” said Paul, who is also the director for the University of Florida’s Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research. They plan to do more research with this “soil” from the moon. I heard someone state that “this is the first time something terrestrial has been combined with that which is extraterrestrial.”
Of course, this news encouraged me to fix my attention on some Scriptures that teach us that the Son of God came to this earth from glory and we that know Him personally will be made like Him. May these passages bless you.
1 Corinthians 15:47 – “The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”
Philippians 2:6-8 – “Who (Jesus), being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”
1 Corinthians 15:49 – “And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.”
1 John 3:2 – “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”
