Customer Service

In 2019 After a bridesmaid forgot her dress at home, Southwest Airlines saved the day by flying the dress to Costa Rica.  So great of the employees to go out of their way to provide this wonderful service.  They’re also grateful to the bridesmaid’s friend Rachel, who dropped it off at the airport that morning. We all need a friend like Rachel.

I don’t know about you, but it seemed like there was a season where I noticed a lack of quality in customer service in various industries.  Recently a friend and I have noticed a difference in the attention to care by some known places of commerce (and some not so well known).  The example I have for you is in an order I made of coffee pods.  When the order came in, one of the pods was damaged and affected the whole box with coffee grounds everywhere.  I took a picture of the box and emailed the company the issue.  Their quick attention to this resulted in me ending up with two boxes of these coffee pods for the price of one (on sale no less!).  I made sure to post a five star review of this company and their quick attention to a solution for me.

So, what might be the spiritual illustration here?  I believe the company I am mentioning demonstrated biblical integrity and “made things right” to me their customer.  Scripture is full of wise instruction on the topic of “going the extra mile”.  Proverbs 11:3  states “The integrity of the upright guides them, but the perversity of the treacherous destroys them.” And Jesus stated in Matthew 5, “And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two.” Matt. 5:41

God will honor your and my integrity when we act consciously and carefully with those around us.  He even promises reward for those who sacrifice and go above and beyond.
