Is the Coronavirus in Bible Prophecy?

The short answer is, “yes”.  Just not in a passage you may be thinking about.

 

There are many who are stating that all the signs (including disease vs.7) listed in Matthew 24:1-34 (The Olivet Discourse) speak to the signs that are to happen right before the Rapture and that we are on the edge of this.  It must be that Christ is coming any day, look at all that is happening in the world with the Corona Virus.  This is not correct.  What is spoken of in Matthew 24 is what will happen right toward the end of the seven-year tribulation.  At Jesus’ second coming He will make war and have victory over the Antichrist and set up his 1000-year reign here on earth.  

So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Matthew 24:33-34

 

This passage speaks of the generation living during the end of the seven-year Tribulation.  Jesus speaks of the mystery of the day & hour of the rapture in Matthew 24:36-44 and for us to be in a constant state of readiness.  God’s future chronology for us is:  #1 Current age (church age), #2 Rapture (imminent), #3 seven-year tribulation, #4 Armageddon (Jesus Victorious), $5 Millennial Reign of Jesus, #6 Final Judgement, and last #7 Eternity (New Heaven & New Earth for the Believer).

 

We do see the Corona Virus and it’s effects upon our world mentioned in Genesis 3, Romans 5 and 8.

 

And to Adam He(God) said, “… By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” Genesis 3:17,19

 

Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned– Romans 5:12

 

“For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.” Romans 8:20

 

This virus is just another effect of the fall of man and this sin cursed world.  Thank God!  Thank God!!  Thank God!!! We have a living hope because Jesus has redeemed us and promised us a future without disease.  Until then, may we trust him and be obedient to all He instructs us in.
