The Pastor’s “Helpful” Kid
A pastor was reviewing his sermon notes at home when his 8-year-old son walked in.
“Dad, can I help?”
“Sure,” the pastor said, handing him the printed sermon.
The boy read for a minute, then said, “Dad… this part is boring.”
The pastor blinked. “Boring?”
“Yeah,” the boy said. “It’s like when Mom explains taxes.”
The pastor took a deep breath. “Okay… what should I do?”
The boy shrugged. “Maybe tell a joke. Or talk faster. Or use more explosions.”
“Explosions?”
“Yeah. Explosions make everything better.”
The pastor didn’t add explosions — but he did tighten the section, add a story, and make it clearer.
On Sunday, several people said, “Pastor, that part really connected today!”
He thought, “Great. My sermon was saved by an 8-year-old with a passion for explosions.

I pray that you recognize when God is building you through constructive criticism, Pastor Larry
