Strange Dreams

A missionary friend of mine mentioned having some strange dreams lately.  He states, “My dreams are often quite long and about many things, but almost always dream about what I think would be great to happen.  I can even semi realize what I am dreaming and talk to myself about it while still in the partial sleep status.  After a while, I will often say well maybe it is time for Ron to wake up fully, so this dream has to end.”

“Really amazing is one dream like this I had.  For about four months I have been working on a book I wrote and revised it (already over 2,000 small improvements have been made).  In my dream, I saw a way to fix a format problem in MS Word that I could never get fixed, even with a guy helping me.  When I got up and tried it, it worked great. I was excited, but fearful to tell anyone else because they may think I was a kook.  So, I asked a trusted friend, and he wrote back and said he has similar dreams.”

A friend responded with his own dream experience: “One guy was a whiz at ping pong. (I would play games with patients who were able and wanted to play.) He had been on a US Army team that toured competitions during the Korean conflict – that was his duty, he was so good!

I could beat most players, but not him!  One night I dreamed about a new serve I could offer! It worked, and I was able to beat him quite often after that. Not so spiritual a dream, but a real one, nonetheless!”

Elihu in the Bible is quoted saying: “For God speaks in one way, and in two, though man does not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, while they slumber on their beds, then he opens the ears of men and terrifies them with warnings,” Job 33:14-16 

“For a dream comes with much business, and a fool’s voice with many words.” Ecclesiastes 5:3
