The Lord’s Will Be Done

Early this morning I noticed water drops influenced by the air flowing over the windows of my car while driving down the road.  Scientifically we can be amused by the physics of this process, but being the way God made me, I drew spiritual thoughts from this.

I recalled the devotional verse from a day or two ago,  “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!” Psalm 143:10 

In contrast to the water drops that have no will of their own to resist the force of the air pushing them, we have a will of our own to accept or resist the will of God in our life. 

From examples in Scripture we see the wisdom of various characters who yielded their lives to God and the blessings and benefits that followed.  Others were not so wise and resisted God and suffered the consequences of their rebellion.  May we be like our Savior, who stated in the Garden of Gethsemane, “ My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:39
