Legacy

A life that mattered. A life that left a mark in this world.  We all want kind and complimentary things to be said about us after we leave this plane. We all wish to be remembered for our acts of kindness and Christian faith.

When I think of Charlie Kirk considering his assassination I can’t help but think of this young man’s short but highly impactful legacy. I use the word legacy (the long-lasting impact of particular events, actions, etc. that took place in the past, or of a person’s life).  There’s no doubt that his boldness on college campuses graciously debating anyone who would step up to his welcoming smile will be remembered for decades.  There are testimonies of many people’s lives being changed by the thoughtful engagement Charlie had with them.  He was a champion for the Christian faith and a wonderful example of how to engage our current culture with the truth God’s message (the gospel).  I’ve come across a few testimonies that attest to messages Charlie shared brought them to Christ shattering false conceptions they had of God, the Bible or Christianity.

May we be inspired by what Charlie did with his time on earth and recall what the apostle Paul stated in his final days on earth.  “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” 2Timothy 4:7-8
