Renewed Focus
At times, life can seem like an endless string of to-do lists and repeating loops of the same schedule. We can feel as if we are walking in a rut of our own making, unable to see any new path except the one we have worn down. During these seasons of mundane tasks, we can lose perspective of our lives and purpose. Priorities can also become misaligned and focused only on the next few steps ahead.
Pausing to consider what is beyond the walls of our busy days can shift our perspective. For what we choose to do within these seasons of life has eternal impact. We might not see it now or even within our lifetime, but our actions have the ability to impact those around us and to leave lasting impressions.
If something as simple as a cup of water given to someone in need has eternal significance, then surely our ordinary days are important too (Matthew 10:42). It comes down to what we choose to do with our time, opportunities, and relationships (Ephesians 5:15-16).
Each night, we can pray not only for provision and intercession, but we can also allow our communion with God to renew our vision of life. Working each day for the glory of God can transform the lowliest tasks into grace-filled acts that ripple out into eternity.
Prayer: Lord,
My perspective is often limited. I am like a horse with blinders, focused only on what lies ahead. I sometimes go through life on mere reflex, not stopping to consider how I might reach out to someone hurting or give a cup of water in Your name. Frustrations grow within me and all I see are the walls of my schedules and routines, stuck in the rut of my limitations.
This day and the ones forward, I pray You would renew my vision and make it more aligned to Yours. May I grow through my communion with You, being transformed by Your love and companionship. In Your name, Jesus, I pray.
Amen.
