Suppose someone called you this morning and said, “I’m going to deposit 86,400 pennies into your checking account every morning for the next 365 days.  That $864 a day for 7 days, 52 weeks a year.  There is only one stipulation—you must spend all the money that same day.  If anything is left over, you lose it.”

You grab a pencil and start to figure out how to spend it—that’s $864 a day, $6,000 a week, $315,000 a year.

Do you realize that every morning God puts into your life bank 86,400 seconds, 1,440 minutes, or 24 hours a day?  Nothing is carried over until the next day.  Someone has said, “Life is like a coin, you can spend it anyway you want to, but you can only spend it once.”

The subject of spending our time wisely has been on my heart lately.  Most of us can be quoted saying “time flies” at some point or another.  This has been true for my family lately as Janie and I enjoy taking time with my mom and “being there for her” with what she’s going through now.  Have you recently given thought that at some point, we won’t have to be concerned about “time” as it is here in this present reality?  I read a verse in Revelation recently that caused me to acknowledge this very truth. “He swore an oath by the One who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it: “There will no longer be an interval of time,” Revelation 10:6. Did you read that?  “There will no longer be an interval of time”!  Wow.  This brings joy to my heart as we will never ever have to say, “see you later” ever again once we are in Jesus’ heaven and spending eternity with Him.  Can you say, “Praise God!” with me?

And let us heed God’s instruction, “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:16
